WELCOME!Since 1972, the Chico Area Flyfishers club has been involved in community activities which support and promote fly fishing. The Chico Area Flyfishers also support and participate in projects throughout Northern California which enhance fisheries and fish habitat. The club works with youth and adults alike to foster a love of fishing and the great outdoors.
Be sure to check out our Calendar, Events, and Newsletters pages. We are excited to announce our monthly Fly Casting Clinic offered free of charge to anyone who is interested about fly fishing. It will be held at the Sycamore Field in Bidwell Park (between Caper Acres and the One-Mile Pool) the third Sunday of the Month from 12 noon to 3pm. We have rods and certified instructors to help you out. Our next clinic will be Sunday, May 19th. See the calendar for any changes. The club meets on the second Wednesday of every month, October through May. Fly tying begins at 6:30pm and the General Meeting begins at 7:30pm at the Lakeside Pavilion (2565 California Park Drive, Chico). Join us Wednesday, May 8th for our fly-tier (6:30pm) and presenter (7:30pm), Lance Gray of Lance Gray and Company Fly Fishing. Currently residing in Willows, CA, Lance was born and raised in Chico. Fly fishing was part of the fabric of Lance Gray almost since birth. He worked with Walt and Press Powell, owners of the illustrious fly rod fame. Fly fishing was an obsession even while working as a Butte County Sheriff's Deputy. He retired from service as a peace officer and became a full time guide. Lance will be presenting on getting ready for the Hex Hatch at Lake Almanor which takes place in June. The Hex Hatch on Lake Almanor draws anglers from all over the world. We will follow Lance's presentation with our usual raffle for some swag! Pat Sleeper, President (530) 228-9197
